Shaurma Grill Haus

Real Odessa shaurma in Erfurt, and an ordering system to match. Not a menu card with a phone number — a cart, a checkout, and a screen in the kitchen that rings when the order arrives.

01 Overview

A shaurma house in Erfurt that had the food and the queue, and nothing online but a phone number. Every order was a phone call, taken by hand, in a second language, over the noise of a grill.

Ordering food should not depend on somebody hearing you correctly. Phone orders cost the kitchen its hands at exactly the moment it has none to spare, and everything that gets misheard — an extra, a “without onions”, an address — is paid for in food.

The whole order moved onto the page: a menu with the real dishes and the real prices, per-item extras and kitchen notes, pickup or delivery, and a checkout built to German rules. What the guest taps is what appears on a screen in the kitchen — with a bell, so a busy shift cannot miss it.

A real client project, live since 13 August 2026 and the first work SYNCUP was paid for. Everything shown is the live product, photographed on the production site.

02 Art Direction

Coal, cream and ember — the palette lifted straight off the owner's own logo, not chosen for it. The whole page is lit like the grill it sells from: dark room, hot light, and the food as the only thing that glows.

The Shaurma Grill Haus hero: the cook at the spit under warm light, with the headline “Erfurts heisseste Shaurma.” across the frame.
Firelight

Embers, a slow firelight pulse and a rotating stamp in a glass coin. Restaurant sites usually go bright and safe; this one commits to the room the food is actually cooked in, which is what the queue outside already knows.

The Shaurma Grill Haus menu section: category tabs, a featured bestseller card and a grid of dishes, two of them greyed out and marked “Ausverkauft”.
The menu is the design

Most of the page is the menu, so the menu got the design budget: a featured bestseller across two columns, tabs by category, and a sold-out state that greys a dish out and refuses to let it into the cart. What is off tonight is off, visibly.

The Shaurma Grill Haus homepage on a phone: the wordmark, the headline over the grill photograph and the order button.
Built for the pocket

Nearly every order is placed on a phone, often on the way over. The cart bar floats, the config sheet slides up from the bottom, and the order button never leaves the thumb.

03 Type & Colour

Condensed poster type on coal, with gold used only where the page wants to be touched. The Russian side swaps to a Cyrillic pair with the same build — a translated site that still looks designed, not fallen back.

Palette

Straight off the logo: coal ground, parchment cream lettering, honey gold for everything you can act on, bronze underneath it.

04 Desktop

One page in the order hunger asks its questions: what is there, why here, what do people say, where are you. The checkout is the only thing that gets a page of its own, because by then the guest is doing one thing only.

The whole Shaurma Grill Haus homepage as one continuous scroll, from the hero through the menu and reviews to the location.
The full homepage flow
  • The menu section: category tabs and a grid of dishes with prices and add buttons.

    01 The menu

The owner's real menu, in his categories and at his prices. Tapping a dish opens a sheet: paid extras, free “ohne …” chips, a note to the kitchen, quantity. Two of the same dish with different wishes are two lines in the cart, because that is how they are cooked.

  • The reviews section: quoted Google reviews in German, Ukrainian and Russian.

    02 Reviews

Real Google reviews, shown in the language each was written in — some German, some Ukrainian, some Russian. Not one was written for the site. The visible rating and the structured data read from a single file, so they cannot quietly drift apart.

  • The location section: address, opening hours and a map placeholder waiting for a click.

    03 Where to find it

Opening hours, the address and the map — loaded only after a click, so Google gets nothing about a visitor who never asked for a map. A second branch opened during the project and got its own announcement.

  • The checkout page: mode and time cards, contact fields, and the order summary with two dishes and a total.

    04 Checkout

Pickup or delivery, now or pre-ordered, contact details, payment on the spot. Delivery is a flat 2 €, inside Erfurt only, above a minimum — his rules, not a template's. The button says “Zahlungspflichtig bestellen” because § 312j BGB says it must, and it is not softened anywhere.

05 Mobile

The phone is not the smaller version of this site — it is the site. The layout keeps the whole ordering flow in one hand, and the parts that were stuttering on a real phone were rebuilt until they stopped.

Same site, one hand — and the order lands in the kitchen before the phone is back in the pocket.

06 The Craft

Orders come in while nobody answers the phone.

A restaurant site that does the ordering: a real menu, a legal checkout, two languages, and a kitchen screen that rings — live in Erfurt and taking orders every day.

Art direction, copy in both languages, the menu and cart, a checkout built to § 312j BGB, LMIV allergen declarations and PAngV unit prices, a two-click map, a kitchen screen with daily order numbers and an alarm that survives a backgrounded tab, uptime alerts to Telegram, the domain and the certificate. Built, launched, handed to the owner. Yours would carry your kitchen, your prices and your name.

Shaurma Grill Haus is a real, paying SYNCUP client — live at shaurma-grill-haus.de since August 2026 and taking real orders. The menu, the prices and the reviews on the site are the owner's own.
